Farewell Our Dear Friend!

Today our dear friend, Janet, became suddenly ill and passed away unexpectedly and is now in the arms of Jesus. We are stunned and shocked and broken-hearted!

She leaves behind a loving husband, a loving daughter and son and their spouses, five adoring grandchildren and her sisters. Her circle of friends was vast.

We've stayed in their home, travelled together, had many Bible studies together, more laughs than can be counted, and shared tears. Their home was a place of hospitality and Brett remembers being there so many times for Bible studies, Burger Bash, and other high school events. Janet is the first of our life-long friends to pass and the pain is deep! She really became Rich's friend first, but over years she and I became "kindred spirits" of sort. We loved talking about our kids/grandkids, spiritual things, and we shared many deep prayer requests. She was a great friend to Rich's mom in her later years. Her loss will leave a deep void in our lives.

Please pray for her family and closest friends

Farewell my friend! I'll see you on the other side!

Happy Birthday Cole!

Happy 19th birthday to our favorite - our one and only - grandson!

"Children's children are a crown to the aged ..."
Proverbs 17:6

Well, we AREN'T aged, but we are very proud of our grandchildren and Cole is no exception. We especially love his smile, his sensitive heart, his bright and quick mind and the fact that he STILL likes to be with us.

Cole, you are ALWAYS in our prayers! Love you!

Making Memories!

Jeff captured some wonderful moments of the last evening Brett, Esther and girls spent with all of the Moorpark Deweys. Brett said it was going to be hard to say farewell! How sweet it is that our children love each other and treasure the times they have together. Thank you Lord for this precious blessing!!

Parting is such sweet sorrow!

Thank you Lord for our dear children and grandchildren!

Dodger Game!

"Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks..."

Brett had talked about going to a Dodger game for WEEKS and so they did with Jeff and Caroline and all the kids.

Before leaving on vacation, Brett and I had reminisced about how beautiful Dodger stadium is. You walk forever from the parking lot, then go up flights of stairs or perhaps escalators, then finally get to the ticket entrance. Once inside it seems like you walk forever through the concessions, then when you enter the tunnel and begin to descend many steps to seating you see the entire stadium. It really is a beautiful sight! Cheesy organ music is playing, vendors of every type with peanuts, cotton candy, Cracker Jacks-of course, everyone eating something yummy - yea for foot-long Dodger dogs. It's a sight to behold! Can you tell how much fun everyone had???!!!

Loving a New Look

Loving our new deck and patio looks!

Dinner to Cheddar's with dear friends, Joe and Rosemary, and back to our house for Key Lime Pie. But before dessert, a REALLY enjoyable evening outside on our patio! A soft, gentle breeze that was actually COOLING, even though temp was 87 degrees, NO bugs, and lots of conversation made for a perfectly delightful evening!

A brilliant Kansas sunset - perfect finish for a perfect evening! Thanks be to God!

Our Cute Little Sailor Girl

Can you EVEN imagine how I loved opening these photos from Renee??? I think my heart did flip-flops!

It all began with photos of Jeff, Jeremy, and Brett wearing the same sailor suit given to Jeff by Grandma Dewey. Then we began adding each grandchild, one by one, all around age two. Jeff and Caroline's girls are in the same little white sailor dress, Cole's suit is similar to his Dad's, Brett and Esther's girls are in navy sailor dresses, and now Maddie in her own little navy sailor dress. Finally we can group them all together. I'm totally LOVING it!

Happy Birthday Maeve!

Maeve is 5 years old today! Our little "spunky monkey" has a birth date to remember 7-7-7.

Her Daddy gave her flowers and her sisters chose a big happy birthday balloon.

It was a surprise party and so the ruse to get her out of the house was for her to pick dinner of her choice. First it was going to be Chinese, then at the last minute she changed to pizza. So pizza it was. Her three big sisters really take good care of her. Isabel, Moira, Maeve, Audrey, aren't they a sweet bunch?!

Her sisters made her cards and then my favorite part - their gifts are something of their own. Moira passed on her American Girl doll. Look at the expression on Maeve's face! I love it!

Cake and a #5 candle topped off the celebration.

Then we went downstairs for some rousing games of air hockey! What fun! Moira was clearly the winner! She even beat Papa, which happens very seldom in games!

We are so blessed to have this little girl in our family. When she comes to visit, she likes to ring the doorbell and then hide around the corner. She thinks she's very clever!

She's very excited to start kindergarten in a few weeks. She thinks riding the bus with her sisters will be very fun - and yes, she won't have to take naps like she was expected to do in pre-K. She's waaay beyond THAT! :)

Love you Mae-Mae!
