This is going to be a busy year for him. He's now serving as President of the Newton Community Children's Chorus. Last year he encouraged Moira to sing in the chorus and it was a good year for her. They enlisted Rich as Secretary for the past year and now they've moved him up to Prez. He's also Chairman of our church Community Life Council. Another new position. Both are utilizing his expert administrative skills as well as keeping his email inbox full!
Rich continues to play the piano every Thursday afternoon at Mid-Town Towers. Mid-Town is a HUD apartment building here in town, occupied by mostly elderly residents. He has always had a heart for the elderly and this is a wonderful chance to brighten the day for these dear folks. It is mostly women who attend the little "chapel" service, led by rotating local pastors. Rich will often stay and visit with these sweet ladies. I don't know who enjoys it more!
It goes without saying that he loves his family. And in random order are some other "loves" - chocolate, reading his daily Chronological Bible, weather (he's very disappointed at the lack of thunderstorms this spring and summer!), traveling, socializing with friends, playing Hearts (he almost ALWAYS wins!), watching movies, working newspaper puzzles, and apple pie.
His license plate holder says, "Papa's hair is silver, but his heart is pure gold." Just about sums it up!
To this dear man, my hubby, I love you!
"A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."
Proverbs 11:25
What a precious post, Carolyn! We LOVE Rich and are so happy you moved here. He missed a wonderful lightning show the other night! Looking forward to our northwest Kansas trip this fall!
ReplyDeleteOoo. What a nice post! Love to hear that Rich is really getting into the groove here in the flatland.
ReplyDeleteRats! I was going to crow about the lightening show he missed. Heh heh.
Hope his day was/is really a blessing!!
